I got an email today talking about Kindle Matchbook. As I read through it, my eyes lit up with excitement. The email explained a new program being set up by Amazon. It is still in the works right now, but soon, they'll be releasing this amazing feature.
So what is this amazing new feature Amazon is rolling out? Once authors enroll in the program, it allows them to set a discounted price for their ebooks that will be activated whenever someone buys the paperback version of their book.
This is something I've long talked about with my friends. I asked, why can't they set up a way for people to get a free ebook version of a book once they buy the paperback? It's ridiculous for people to have to pay twice for the same book.
Of course, this will not be for all books; only for books that authors choose to enroll in Kindle Matchbook. The author chooses to enroll their book, they set the discounted price for their ebook. They can choose $2.99, $1.99, $0.99, or free. Once a customer buys the paperback of the book, the ebook will become the discounted price for them.
I have already enrolled my short story, The Tale of Pumpkin Jack in this program. The program is not yet active, but once it is, anyone who buys the paperback of my short story, will get the ebook for free.
Authors, will you enroll in this program? Readers, will this program make you more likely to buy a book? I hope you all are as excited as I am!
